the male peacock or the peafowl is the only one with the colorful tails that give off a beautiful display. the female or a peahen's tail is brown or toned gray and isn't as beautiful as the males. peacocks are large ,colorful pheasants (typically blue or green) known for their beautiful tails. these tail feathers also known as coverts, spread out in a distinctive train that is more than 60% of the birds body length, they have have colorful "eye" markings of blue, gold, red, and other colorful hues. the the tail is used in mating rituals and courtship displays. it fans out across the birds back and touches the ground on either side. females are believed to choose their they're mates according to size, color, and the quality of their gorgeous feather trains. the term of "peacock" is commonly used to refer to both genders, but technically only males are referred to peacocks and females are referred to peahens. together they are called peafowl. peahens usually lay 3-5 eggs. wild peafowl often roost in forest trees and gather in groups called parties ( no not the parties we humans have on spacial occasions) . peacocks eat insects, plants and small creatures. they're ground feeders. peacocks live in India and sri lanka, green peacocks are found in java and Myanmar. a more distinct and little- known species, the Congo peacock, inhabits African rain forests. peafowl such as the blue peacock have been kept as pets for many thousands of years. selective breeding has created
some unusual color combinations, yet wild birds themselves burst with vibrant hues. they can be testy and do not mix well with other domestic birds.

the quetzel
quetzels are considered one of the worlds most beautiful birds. the vibrant colored birds live high in the mountains, and tropical forests in central America's. they eat fruits, insects, lizards, and other small creatures. the the period of mating seasons male quetzals grow their twin tails out that form a growth of 3 feet (one meter long) females do not have long tails but do share the same vibrant colors as the males. yet males colors seem to be more vibrant. resplendent quetzals use their beaks to hollow out holes in trees to make nests. their nests usually are in rotted trees or stumps. there they take turns incubating 2 or 3 eggs. though males have such long tails at such they tend to stick out of the nests. young quetzels tend to start flying at three weeks of age, but males do not begin to grow their tails until 3 years of age. unfortunately these striking and beautiful birds are threatened in Guatemala and elsewhere throughout their range. they are endangered because of their small numbers and need to be saved.

the red panda
yay the first animal so lets learn
the red panda is native to the eastern himalayas in southwestern china. it's the only speices of the genus ailurus. a bit larger than a house cat it has reddish brown fur and a puffy, shaggy tail. it also has small stubby legs. the red panda eats bamboo but at times may eat eggs, bugs. it is awake from dusk to dawn mainly. it mostly sleeps during the day. the red panda is endangerd with only 10,000 left in the world today. even if red pandas are prtected by law nationally in places their population decreases due to habitat loss, poaching, and inbreeding deperission. (it's very sad). red pandas have been mostly classified with racoons and bears but they are placed in their own family called the ailuridae.
